Fluoride

Keeping Your Smile Healthy With Fluoride at Every Age

Fluoride can be used to protect the enamel of your teeth and can help prevent cavities especially in children, whose teeth are still developing. While fluoride can be particularly effective in children it can be used for cavity prevention for all ages.

Fluoride Treatment - What to Expect

When receiving an in-office fluoride treatment a solution that contains a high concentration of fluoride will be applied to the teeth and allowed to absorb for a specific time. The treatment will be done by a trained professional that can help relax even the most nervous child or adult.

Who Should Receive in-Office Fluoride Treatments?

Children are generally recommended to receive a fluoride treatment every six months during their regular checkup. However, your dentist may recommend fluoride treatments for adults who are at high risk of decay, have a history of decay, gum recession, dry mouth, have trouble brushing and flossing and have areas that need to be regularly monitored. Ages and the frequency of in-office fluoride treatments may vary from patient to patient and your dentist will provide a recommendation that is right for you.

Is Fluoride Safe?

Yes, these in-office treatments are completely safe. Fluoride is also generally found in drinking waters and in many over the counter dental products like toothpaste and mouthrinse, which are also safe to use.

“I always dreaded going to the dentist, but this dental office is a very pleasant experience. I have always felt well taken care of, they are sensitive, and have been given good service. They hygienists are very friendly and very good. I also had complications after the removal of my wisdom teeth and they were very responsive and fit me in on short notice several times.”
