Minneapolis Family Dentist & Preventative Dentistry
Preventive Dentistry is our goal for every patient. It involves daily care, good nutrition, periodic examinations and cleanings that maintain good dental health. Ongoing periodontal exams are part of every visit.
A dental sealant is a thin plastic film painted on the chewing surfaces of molars and premolars to prevent cavities on these surfaces.
Our highly-trained hygienists offer the latest clinical treatments and technologies to help you achieve the best possible results.
A topical fluoride painted on your teeth to help strengthen your teeth in preventing cavities and decreasing sensitivity. Recommended for all ages, professionally administered topical fluorides such as gels or varnishes are applied by a Minneapolis dentist and left on usually during a cleaning treatment. For patients with a high risk of cavities, the dentist may prescribe a special gel for daily home use, to be applied with or without a mouth tray.
Tooth Colored Fillings
A composite filling is a tooth-colored plastic and glass mixture used to restore decayed teeth. Composites are also used for cosmetic improvements of the smile by changing the color of the teeth or reshaping disfigured teeth.
Crowns & Bridges
A dental crown is a custom-made artificial tooth cap that completely covers a damaged tooth, restoring functionality, shape, size, and strength to the tooth. Most commonly, dental crowns are a restoration procedure for teeth needing more structural support and long-lasting protection than cavity fillings or inlays. This is especially important for posterior teeth, where up to 150–200 pounds of pressure can be placed on the teeth while chewing.
A bridge is a dental appliance that replaces one or more natural missing teeth, thereby "bridging" the space between two teeth. A fixed bridge typically consists of three units: a pontic (a false tooth) fused between two crowns that are cemented onto the abutment teeth (the surrounding teeth on either side of the space, or "span"). Unlike removable partial dentures, fixed bridges cannot be taken out of the mouth by the patient.
The intraoral camera allows patients to see their teeth up close and in color, using a pencil-sized wand with a tiny lens that can be pointed to any area in the mouth. The dentist can zoom in for close-ups and can take snapshots that can be discussed with the patient. Procedures can even be saved and later shown to the patient.
Digital radiography captures an electronic image which can be viewed on a screen and exposes your family to far less radiation than standard dental x-rays.
