Choosing a Family Dentist in Minneapolis and Golden Valley

Perhaps you’ve just moved to the Twin Cities and need a dentist. Minneapolis offers some great dentists to be sure, but how do you know which dentist is right for you?

We’ve put together this 10-point checklist to help you select the best dentist for your needs. We hope that after reviewing this checklist, you’ll make an appointment with Bassett Creek Dental for all of your family’s dental needs.

Selecting a Dentist: a 10-Point Checklist

    1. Who is my dentist and what are their credentials? Review the credentials of dentists you’re considering to make sure they have the experience you desire.
    2. Ask for references: Ask friends, family, coworkers and others who they recommend. Happy patients recommend their dental offices to friends and family.
    3. Where are they located? Look for a dental office near your workplace or home. An office with ample parking, convenient to highways and main roads, is also a plus.
    4. Do they offer Saturday and evening hours? If you have flexibility in your schedule and can make dental appointments during the day, that’s not as much of an issue as someone who works a traditional 9 to 5 job. They may need evening and Saturday hours.
    5. What services does the dentist offer? Some dentists specialize in basic family dentistry. At Bassett Creek Dental, we have several specialists on staff including an oral surgeon and a periodontist so you do not need to see specialists outside of our office. We can accommodate your entire treatment program in the same office.
    6. Is the dentist up-to-date on the latest techniques? Medical and dental science changes all the time. New techniques, new scientific discoveries, and more, are changing the face of dentistry.  Good dentists keep abreast of developments in the profession to offer the best care for our patients.
    7. How does the office feel? Are you greeted by friendly staff?
    8. Does the dentist welcome questions? You are a participant in your treatment plan. You should feel free to ask questions about your dental care and health at any time.
    9. How are emergencies handled? A dental emergency is no fun. If you’re dealing with severe tooth pain, a lost tooth or a missing filling, you want to be sure the dentist is responsive to your needs.
    10. How do you like the office? Lastly, you’ve got to feel a rapport with your dentist. If you don’t like the office or you don’t feel comfortable, you won’t return.

At Bassett Creek Dental, we strive to go the extra mile for our patients. Some of our patients begin with us as children or teens, and in turn bring their own children back for dental care years later. We know several patients who bring family, friends, and even extended family in for visits. Make an appointment today and experience the Bassett Creek Dental difference, where we give you more reasons to smile. Call for an appointment at 763-546-1301.
