Who doesn’t want to stay healthy in the new year? These dental care tips will help you keep your smile beautiful this year and for many years to come. For more tips, talk to your dentist at Bassett Creek Dental.

Brush your teeth twice a day or after every meal: Use a soft-bristle toothbrush, fluoride toothpaste, and don’t rush through it. Battery powered or electric toothbrushes can help keep reduce plaque from teeth and prevent gum disease.

Replace your toothbrush: Replace your toothbrush every three to five months or if the bristles become worn.

Keep equipment clean: Toothbrushes should be rinsed after use and stored upright to allow them to air dry.

Floss: Floss daily. Use a large enough piece of dental floss so that you can grasp it easily. Be gentle when flossing, and use a floss wand or pick if you have trouble using floss string by itself.

See your dentist regularly: We’ll work out a checkup schedule that is right for you. Make sure you keep your appointments and get regular checkups.

Call if there’s a problem: If a filling falls out, a crown is loose, or you notice changes in your bite, call our office for an appointment. Don’t wait until a small annoyance becomes a big problem.

Teach your children to brush: Good oral hygiene starts at home. Teach your children the importance of brushing their teeth with child-sized toothbrushes that fit their mouths comfortable. A small step stool will help them reach the sink without stretching on tippy toes.
